Background
In March 1993 Porsche launched a Limited Edition 911, celebrating 30 years model 911.
This anniversary or 'Jubiläums-modell' – known popularly as a Jubi- it was technically based on a Porsche 964 Carrera4 (4-wheel drive) coupe (M-Code M96). Body-wise it was equipped with a wide Turbo-body. The Turbo whale-tail spoiler was left off, keeping the original 911-shape in its purest form.
In total 911 numbered cars were produced globally. Most cars feature the exclusive (Jubi-only) special 'Viola metallic' paint, while some cars were sprayed in Polar Silver or Amethyst. There are strong indications that, on special customer orders, some of these Limited Edition Models were finished in other colours.
All cars were produced to the specifications of the ROW-Market (Rest of the World). The selling-price in Germany for the basic car was: 145.900,- DM (Source: Porsche Preisliste Modelljahr 1994 - 01.08.1993, WVK 140 411)
In an environment of "look alike models" and specialist conversions, and with the burgeoning values of "30 Jahre models", it is important to be able to identify the Jubi from the rest
First of all the original Anniversary is based on and most of its parts are from a 911 / 964 Carrera 4. That means that this Porsche is a four-wheel drive. No exception of this specification is known.
The original Anniversary is fitted with the wide-body-shell of the 964 Turbo. Therefore the wider suspension-arms of the Turbo had to be fitted in. Brake system and suspension including anti-roll bars are a compilation of serial and special parts. This was necessary because the Special Model was not as fast as the Turbo, but it was heavier then the C4 and had different weight-distribution then both versions.
The model was not fitted with the drilled brake-discs of the Turbo, nor with the huge Turbo-Rear-Spoiler, but with the smaller and automatically operated one of the regular Carrera 2/4. Wheels are composed of: 7 und 9 J x 17 (both ET 55) and 205/50 ZR 17 und 255/40 ZR 17 on alloy-rims (Cup I-Design).
Serial Equipment covers: Full leather seats with integrated head restraint, electrically operated windows and rear mirrors, two airbags, full leather treatment and coloured central instruments in "Rubicon Grey" colour matching the interior-colour. (This may alter on special orders with differing colour combinations.)
Optional Equipment included Radio/Tape and Radio/CD/Changer by Blaupunkt, automatic full climate control, on-board computer, electrically operated sunroof, sport-seats, in car telephone point, 92 litre fuel tank and many more.
Special insignia: A special alloy-tag is plugged into the gear lever and the backside of the rear seats show the embroidered letters: "911". On the rear hat rack a leather covered block carries two metal tags. One shows the limitation number of the particular car and the other one is readable from the drivers-mirror telling the letters "30 Jahre 911" in mirror writing. The engine cover is mounted with an additional application displaying the underlined letters of "911" once more at the car.
Vehicle History
This very special car was delivered by the supplying dealer, Merlin Porsche of Nottingham to the first owner, Peter Piggin of Gaulby in Leicestershire on 1st August 1993. The first change of keeper came just over a year later in November 1994 when the new keepers are recorded as Double Design Services of Peterborough with the final change of ownership to the current keeper occurring on 14th April 1995.
Whilst we have a record of the ownership history, details of early servicing on the car are a casualty of a lost service book - however, the current owner could be described as a real classic car enthusiastic. Known to us when we had the good fortune of marketing his absolutely beautiful Aston Martin DB4, it turns out that the Porsche has been his "everyday car" for the past 20 years!
And the attention to detail that we saw on his Aston are right here in the Porsche and even when the decision had been made to offer the car to the market, when told that the car should have a good alarm, he had a Cobra Cat 5 unit fitted and, for good measure had a faulty headlamp function seen to.
Buying this car is not just investing in a rare "Jubi" - it is the acquisition of a cherished and well maintained Porsche 911 from long term ownership.
